Review: Olivia’s Invention Workshop (#3933)

The cynic in me wants to believe that LEGO included this set so as to have a set that wasn’t just pet rescue and fashion. Saying that, I have to admit that this set has some of the coolest details I have seen in a commercial LEGO set. I think this is one of the advantages of the slightly bigger Friends scale.

Co-build Rating: 4.5/5
This set falls right in line with #3936, it has several individual components that are built separately. This enables two builders to build at the same time. Sam ran into a little problem putting the blackboard on the base, but otherwise it went together quickly.

Overall Rating: 4/5
As mentioned above, there are some great little details in this set. The microscope is really cool and easily recognizable. On the end of the work bench is a clamp that would look right in any school lab. Sam particularly enjoyed building the little robot. She also thought the purple tools are cool. Again, the set needs a bit more structure for my tastes. When placed with the Fashion Studio, Sam said that the girls had their own studio to work in and was already building her own little story. Obviously there is a good amount of play value to these smaller sets.
