Review: Olivia’s Tree House (#3065)

I’m going to spoil the ending of this review for you now – we loved this set. It has a lot of great details, new pieces, and fun interactivity.  This set debuts the new kitten, bird, lady bugs and flowers. As with all Friends’ sets, we see purple, pink and light blues.

We drafted this set at our local LEGO User Group (LUG), and the animals went fast. The bottom green tile was also a hot commodity.

How well did the set co-build? Read on!

Co-Build Rating: 2.5/5

The smaller boxed Friend’s such as Olivia’s Invention Workshop are several smaller components making up a larger set. They are great for co-building – each builder has something they can work on. The Tree House, which is a slightly larger set, does not have as many separate parts. It is possible for a second builder to put the cat house and bird house together. A young builder should not have a lot of problems putting those together however.  It is possible to co-build the tree house together, but as it’s such a narrow build, there is a lot of your turn/my turn building.

While you can co-build this set, it’s not as fluid or as easy as the smaller Friend’s sets.

Overall Rating: 4/5

As I mentioned above, we are big fans of this set. The upper ladder is built into the side of the tree and has a fun feel to it. The tree feels very alive with lots of ladybugs, butterflies and flowers.

There are great little details as well. The milk carton and fish for the cat for example are neat. The little hidden treasure box is cool (and who doesn’t like gems?).  Even the spy glass adds to the overall play of the set.

Olivia’s Tree House is a great purchase at $19.95, just don’t expect a deep co-build experience.

  1. Nice review. I might get this for my niece. I was trying to be all gender-stereotype-free and I got her a small Star Wars set…she very matter-of-factly stated in a 6.5 y/o was “for boys silly” lol.

  2. Reblogged this on Bricks N More and commented:
It’s funny we got this set today! I built it with my 4 year old son and 6 year old daughter and we had a great time! We did the my turn/ your turn thing, and they couldn’t wait to play with the set. My daughter really loves the friends figures and the new cat fig was a hit with them both! Neither seemed too interested in the bird, but the set is really fun! Read Clutch Power’s review for more info on the set!
